Lovers of good street-food, Starving Club, a new restaurant by Thibaut Spiwack, candidate for “Top Chef” in 2022, intends to delight you. The chef offers street-food recipes from around the world – burgers, gyros, banh mi… – prepared from eco-responsible products.
While he is currently candidate to the 13th season of Top chef in Hélène Darroze’s brigade (the show was recorded a few weeks ago), the Chef Thibaut Spiwack just opened a new restaurant. With Starving Clublocated on the Pasteur Blvd. in the XVth district of Paris, Thibaut Spiwack offers a street food of chief and environmentally friendly.
The eco-responsible kitchen this is the credo of the chef, who already owns the restaurant Anona, in the 17th arrondissement. An establishment for which Thibaut Spiwack received the green star from the Michelin guide, which rewards the sustainability of a menu.
For Starving Club (restaurant well named since “to starve“means”starve” in English), Thibaut Spiwack developed recipes from world street food. A street food of quality made of well-sourced product. Fruits, vegetablesand even some spices, come fromIle-de-France. About the meatit comes fromrespectful farms animal and the environment.
To open this restaurant, Thibaut Spiwack teamed up with Thibault Mazarguil and Florian Bazin (former director of Yaya restaurants).
The kitchen of Starving Club is inspired by 3 street food from world : that of the Greecethat of theAsia and that of United States. Thus, on the greek map Kalathere are in particular gyrosof the mezes or halloumi fries. Cocothe asian mapshe offers, banh misoups pho or fried rice. Finally Dudesthe menu made in UScontains burgerspulled pork for example.
Falafel, shrimp tempura, baos, babka or carrot cake are also present on the map of Starving Club. The very comprehensive offer also includes stylish hot drinks coffee shopas well as cocktails.
Without a doubt our favorite recipe is on the side Greek. It’s here tiropitathis crisp of feta cheese with paprika and Honey. Literally, to die for. But the Americans cheddar sticks, with their real tasty cheddar, ensure the competition. The falafelmeanwhile, with feta and split peas, are very fresh and soft.
The house fries are seasoned with Cajun spices and rosemary, and the halloumi fries are just as successful.
Side meats, Starving Club also has some lovely surprises in store, as they are very carefully crafted. The pork shoulder that garnishes the burger to pulled pork, candied with honey and paprika, is very tender. Just like the poultry from gyros. Finally, the chicken of the nuggets is marinated in buttermilk and coated in crispy Cajun spice breadcrumbs. A method of preparation and a mixture that ensures a very tasty final product.
Starving Club is bathed in a vegetal and warm decor, designed by EMME studio, with open kitchen.
For the cocktails, Florian Bazin works in particular Lillet, but not only. He has created 6 home-made alcoholic recipes, alongside non-alcoholic creations.
